Marley Farm

Marley Farm, for parents and teachers

What it is

Marley Farm is a horse-rescue farm. You are Millie, and you are seventeen. Your grandfather’s yard has not changed since the nineties, and the phone keeps ringing: a horse loose on the highway shoulder in a snowstorm, no brand, no papers. Clear the brush, put up the barn and take in the ones nobody else will. Feed them, water them, wait for them to trust you, and see them through the year, from spring melt to forty below. It is free and plays in the browser, on a phone or a computer. There are no ads, no chat, and nothing asked about who is playing.

What it promises

What the horses have been through

Horses arrive thin, hurt or frightened, and get better with care. Their intake notes say plainly why: neglect, a barn fire, an owner who died, a racehorse sent to a feedlot, a mare bred too young and too often. Horses get sick, and the vet comes. No horse dies. The game opens just after Millie’s grandfather has died. It is said once and the story moves on.

How the farm is kept

The farm is saved in the browser and backed up to marleyfarm.app under a farm code, which does not say who it belongs to. If the browser forgets the farm, the game brings it back on the next visit. The farm code carries it to another device: Pause, then Farm code. A farm can be deleted from the same place. The privacy page says what is kept and for how long.
